Get your name on your front door

When you move to a new home, make a change of address notification well in advance. You'll get your name on your front door and ensure that mail reaches you, and your friends won't end up wandering to your neighbors' doors.

Which authorities should be notified of the move?

You should make a change of address notification before moving to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (Digi- ja väestötietovirasto) and Posti (Finnish postal service), as well as your property management company.

Additionally, it's a good idea to create a list of places where your new address needs to be updated through other means. This is important because you are responsible for ensuring that bills, for example, are sent to the correct address even after the move.

Digital and Population Data Services Agency and Posti

The official change of address notification is always made to the Digital and Population Data Services Agency. You can submit the change of address notification through Posti's online service, or by using the form available at Posti and the Digital and Population Data Services Agency.

Once you have made the official change of address notification:

  • Your information will be updated in the population information system for authorities.
  • Posti will be able to find your new home.

Property Management Company

The property management company is the entity responsible for ensuring that your name is listed in the building's resident directory and that your front door displays the correct name details.

The property management company will also need the information provided in the change of address notification in case you forget or lose your key. The door will only be opened for individuals who can be confirmed to reside in that specific apartment.

Make a notification about your move to the property management company using their own change of address form.
