Smoke detectors and the new Rescue Act – responsibilities from the beginning of 2026
With the new Rescue Act, the responsibility for the installation and maintenance of smoke detectors will be transferred to the property owner at the beginning of 2026. The tenant will remain responsible for regularly testing the smoke detectors and reporting any faults.
We will install smoke detectors in our properties during 2025. We will inform tenants 2–3 weeks in advance of the apartment-specific installation of smoke detectors. The new smoke detectors will be either battery-operated or connected to the mains.
